Age Appropriate Loot Bags
ByWe know that all kids love loot bags to take home from a party. Even adults have been known to scamper off with the spare loot bag. The trick to a good loot bag is to provide contents to suit the age of the child receiving it.
Here are some things to think about weh putting your loot bags together.
1. Don’t include small objects in bags for toddlers. Small toys and lollies are a choking hazard.
2. Sometimes it’s hard for little ones to tell the difference between a toy and a lolly. Gumballs and bouncy balls don’t look a lot different to young eyes. If there’s chance of confusion, don’t include that item.
3. Make sure that you have a loot bag for everyone. Children hate to see others miss out and have been known to hand over a loot bag even to babies. Make a special look bag up for babies and include rusks or teething toys as their loot. That’s a safer option!
4. Don’t give the loot bags out until it is time to go home. That helps to keep the contents of the bag intact until they leave the house and reduces the risk of having goodies fall into the wrong hands.
5. Older children and pre-teens still love loot bags but they won’t want to be given the same things as the smaller kids. (They have to preserve their image, after all.) Pens, notebooks and temporary tattoos would be good for this age.
Loot bags are part of the fun of any birthday party and with a little care, will keep every child happy once the party is over.

I’ve been to a party where, they had a treasure hunt (age appropriate gifts of course) and the “treasures” the find becomes part of their loot bag! The treasure hunt was held towards the end. How she made sure that everyone got the same amount of gifts was to give each child an item list of what they’re supposed to find. Great for school aged kids.
